Terms for drivers
1. About these terms
These terms are between you, the driver, and VANDOD BROTHERS LLP, a limited liability partnership with its registered office at 2593-5, CC 55, 1st Floor, Bose Nagar, Kadavanthara, Ernakulam, Kerala 682020 ("Vandod", "the LLP", "we", "us"). Vandod is a platform that connects customers with independent driver partners. You drive the customer's own car. By using the Vandod driver app you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
You are an independent driver partner, not an employee of Vandod. You decide how you work, within the rules on this page, which are there to keep customers safe and the service reliable. Thank you for driving with us.
2. Approval and verification
To become a driver partner you need to be at least 18, hold a valid Indian driving licence for the type of car you will drive, and pass our verification. Selection includes a driving test and a short in-person interview with our team. We may ask for documents, a photo and other details. The decision to approve a driver is ours, and we may sometimes need to say no or ask for more.
Please give us true and current information, and finish the training in the app before you take trips.
3. Keeping your documents valid
Your licence and other documents need to stay valid for as long as you drive with Vandod. Please tell us if anything changes, for example a licence suspension or a police case. While a document is expired or under review, we may need to pause your trips.
4. Going online and taking trips
- You choose when to go online. While you are online, admins may assign a trip to you, nearest driver first.
- You can have one assigned trip at a time.
- Please accept only trips you can do, and be on time. If you cannot do a trip, tell us straight away.
- Please go offline when you are not available.
5. Cancelled trips
When a customer cancels:
- Before the trip has started, the customer can cancel at no cost, and no fare is due. The app tells you the trip was cancelled. Please go back online when you are free for the next trip.
- After the trip has started, it can't be cancelled. It ends as a normal trip, and the customer pays for the actual time driven, with the minimum booking time shown in the app.
If you can't do a trip that was assigned to you, or can't reach the pickup, please tell us straight away through the Call support button on the trip screen or the support number. The customer is never charged when a driver cancels, and we will try to assign another driver. Vandod support may also cancel a trip from its side.
Customers rely on you, so please don't skip trips or miss a pickup. Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to suspension (see "Suspension and blocking").
6. Conduct and safety
We ask you to:
- follow all traffic laws, speed limits and safety rules, and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
- drive the customer's car with care, as if it were your own;
- be polite, and never harass, threaten or discriminate against a customer or anyone else;
- not use the customer's car for anything other than the agreed trip, and not carry extra passengers or goods;
- not take customer belongings or share a customer's personal details;
- not use your phone in a way that is unsafe while driving.
After a trip you and the customer can each rate the other. Ratings and comments are private: only Vandod admins can see them, and the other person cannot. We use them to look at service quality, and a low average rating may lead us to review an account. We do not promise any specific action.
7. Starting a trip: PIN and odometer photo
Every trip starts the same way, which protects you and the customer:
- At the pickup point, take a photo of the vehicle's odometer (the kilometre reading) in the app. Only admins can see it; it is used for disputes.
- Ask the customer for the start PIN shown in their app and enter it. Please never start a trip without the PIN the customer gave you.
- At the end, the trip is closed when you are within 2 km of the drop location, or when the customer confirms it in the app.
8. Location during trips
The app records your location while you are online, and continuously during an active trip. The route is saved and kept as a record for disputes, safety and legal needs. The app tracks location only while it is open on your phone (foreground), and only while you are online or on a trip. Please keep the app open and location on during a trip.
9. Payments
Security deposit. Every driver partner pays a one-time security deposit of Rs 1,000 at the in-person interview, after passing the driving test. The deposit is not refundable.
Trip payments.
- The customer pays you directly for the trip, by UPI or in cash. Fares are based on actual time driven, with the minimum booking time shown in the app, plus a return charge on one-way trips.
- After the customer taps "I paid", please confirm in the app that you have received the money, and only once you have.
- Please don't ask the customer for more than the amount shown in the app, other than tolls or parking they agree to.
- If a customer doesn't pay for a completed trip, please tell us through Help. We'll check the trip record and, once it's confirmed, credit the amount to you.
10. Vandod commission
Vandod's commission is currently 20% of the time fare of each trip. It is never charged on the return charge for one-way trips. The app shows you the exact commission for every trip. The rate may change from time to time; any change applies only to trips booked after it, never to trips already done.
After each trip, please pay the commission by UPI through the app and enter the UPI transaction reference. New trips stay paused until our team verifies the payment, and you can take trips again as soon as it is verified.
11. Disputes
If a customer disputes a fare or complains about a trip, we will look at the trip record, including the start and end times, photos and route, and speak to both sides. Our decision on the fare and any adjustment is final for the purpose of the app, but it does not limit your legal rights. If it is agreed or decided that a customer should get money back for a trip, you may be asked to return the amount to the customer, by UPI or in cash, and we will help make sure it happens.
12. Fines, challans and damage
You are responsible for any fine, challan or penalty caused by how you drive, and for any damage to the customer's car that is caused by your negligence or by breaking these terms. Vandod is not liable for fines or challans caused by the driver, and may recover from you any amount it has to pay because of them.
13. Insurance and accidents
Vandod does not provide insurance for driver partners or for trips. The customer's own motor insurance is the main cover for damage to the car. If damage is caused by your negligence or by you breaking traffic rules, you are responsible for it, as set out in section 12, including any part of the loss the customer's insurance does not pay. You are responsible for your own personal accident and health insurance.
If there is an accident, make sure everyone is safe, call emergency services if needed, and report it to us through the Help section or the support number as soon as you can.
14. Suspension and blocking
We may need to suspend or block your account if you break these terms, put a customer at risk, take payments dishonestly, don't pay commission, give false documents, or if the law requires it. In serious cases this may happen straight away. Where we can, we will tell you why. You are free to stop being a driver partner at any time, after finishing any live trip and paying any commission due.
15. Your data
We collect and use your data as explained in the Privacy Policy, including your phone number, name, documents, location, routes, photos and payment references. Customer details you see (such as name, phone number, pickup and drop) are for that trip only. Please don't keep, share or use them for any other reason.
16. Deleting your account
You can ask for deletion in the driver app under Account > Privacy and data > Delete account. There is a 30 day grace period; if you sign in and choose "Keep my account", the request is cancelled. Deletion is blocked while a trip is live or commission is unpaid. After 30 days your account and personal details are removed. Trips, payments and routes are kept without your name or account link for accounts, disputes, tax and legal obligations.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make an important change we will tell you in the app. If you keep taking trips after that, you accept the new terms.
18. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Kochi, Kerala have exclusive jurisdiction.
